Young Writers Project -- UPDATE 6.16.10Knitters, spinners and weavers, Young Writers Project extends a thanks to all of you for your financial support of our project. In the last year, we have received at least 85 contributions totalling $1,502 from the little Chip In widget on the right. We have received an additional $2,052 from our direct PayPal account and we know that some of that total is from you. THANKS!
Captcha screen-Geoff comes to the rescue..please CHIP IN to YWP to right!Well, I have to thank Geoff G., our volunteer techie, who has a more than full time job running Young Writer's Project (the beneficiary of our donations, and Janet, who spends a lot of time trying to manage new subscribers). Geoff knows that we are being overwhelmed by spammers trying to destroy our network by overwhelming our servers. He introduced a Captcha screen, and we are hoping that this will help us catch those whose sole aim is to destroy and divert our servers and resources, before they get into the system.
SpammersGood morning everyone... We are experiencing an onslaught of spammers or "bots," trying to flood our pages with automated garbage, thus slowing down our server and the functioning of our pages. It is something we have to figure out how to prevent here, on our end, and I am working on it, with help. However, just to let you know that things might be slow or not working well due to this wave of garbage that is washing over our network, ... wondering what people get out of doing that type of destructive behavior....? Kathleen
Hot in Vermont, July 7Hi to everyone, from hot and steamy Vermont, where it is in the 90s this week. We are not set up for it here, alas, and so we suffer while the temperatures climb. I hope that you all are keeping cool, and comfortable...and that you can knit something while the weather is summery. I am working on lace scarves, lightweight, but I really need to work on my daughter's blanket, as she leaves for school in late August, our last one. Anyone have any ideas on the Empty Nest Sydrome? Shoot them to me at kbruce@together.net. Thanks` Keep cool. Kathleen

How to Help The Young Writer's Project! : )June 9, 2007. As a followup to yesterday, I have been thinking... I am so appreciative of all the donations we have had up until now. I am wondering if somehow, the pages are not working for you as well as they used to? You have more flexibility, and can post your own ads without waiting for me. It's only better than it was, right? Wrong? : ) How about letting me know how you feel... KBruce@together.net. And for now, here's how to help the Young Writer's Project by making a small donation as a thank you for the services you get here for free...at the Spinner's Weaver's, and Knitter's Housecleaning pages. Thank you so much, and blessings to all of you! KATHLEEN

GraduationHi guys. We are off for a few days beginning tomorrow....for Emily's graudation from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. She is graudating with high honors, and with the Phi Beta Kappa Prize, and with a Fulbirhgt award, as well as a Gates Cambridge scholarship, where she will be going to Cambridge England next year for a year of study at Cambridge in virology/immunology. We are so proud, and are hoping for good weather, (not 90 and hotter than....) but just good weather to be outdoors. Wish us luck! And congratulations to Emily.!!! Kathleen
May 8, 2007 How to Post and Remove an Ad5/9 And for those who forget how to remove an ad that they have posted.... This site offers free advertisements for anyone wanting to sell -- or find -- wool related items: Everything from spinning wheels to fibers to carders to books to looms to animals. Please see the guidelines, but another reminder that in ALL transactions use comment sense. As we know there are some not so nice people out there so please, if you are selling an item, make sure you do not divulge personal credit card information nor get into complicated arrangements with people in a foreign country who seem to have limited understanding of English.
