11/21 My birthday! Fleece needed11/21 Hi all. I'm 51 today! It's grey and cold, but I am keeping my spirits up and have seen some beautiful needle felting today at the Champlain Valley Craft fair. The woman who did it was a homeschooler, and made all sorts of wool gnomes, wool fox, baby dolls of wool, and placemats that were needlefelted. These babies were so incredibly gorgeous. My family would like to work on some needlefelting over the holidays. We need some fleece, different natural colored, either washed (preferably ) as we have a water shortage /well problem at the moment, or unwashed, longish staple.
11/12/08Good afternoon all. I have just come in from filling the feeders. Already, the little birds have been coming to the feeder, as the mornings are cold, and they are beginning to enjoy the seed almost as much as I enjoy watching them eat. Remy, our new puppy, got a mouthful of BURR yesterday, which necessitated a trip to the vet, and some medication, as the poor pup had tried to swallow the burr, and the sharp ends were in his throat.... silly pup for trying to swallow that. Silly me for not removing them from our yard. Silly me losing $200 at the vet. What else to do? Sigh.
19 OctNYC Yarn Shops-yarn crawl...Hi there. I am going to NY to see my daughter, who is a student there. We would like to check out some fun yarn shops, and if you have any suggestions for Manhattan, please send them to me at kbruce@together.net. We might get to Brooklyn, but might not, so please, just Manhattan for now. Thanks! Kathleen
Oct 13, 2008 categories, scategoriesHi all. I just finished an hour's worth of going through, on the advice of a well-meaning reader of my pages, and recategorizing all the ads that had been placed in incorrect categories. Sometimes, people do this accidentally. Other times, people do this to spam the site with their ad, thinking that if EVERYONE sees their ad selling 308 skeins of orange acrylic yarn, even those reading the loom page, and the library page, and the barn page, or the animal page,... that they will have a better chance of selling said skeins of yarn.
Oct 10-gorgeous dayOct 10. Good morning all. I am going to try and make a more regular effort to blog. I have had a few interesting months,....we have a new puppy, Remy, a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. I have to take a photo of him with low resolution to fit on the blog, and will do that this weekend, I promise. He is a little lovebug and is the bright light in our home. He loves to play ball, as Ollie did....The girls are all doing well. Emily leaves today for England to defend her Masters thesis at Cambridge (biochemistry/virology). She is in MD PhD school now in NY, and is doing very well.
Happy Oct 1Hi all. Wondering how you are all doing, and just a quick hello. I have been taking Sept "off," trying to get the pain of this darned Rheumatoid arthritis under control. It's not quite worked as well as I thought but I am still working on it. Remy, our new puppy, (I am having problems posting a photo) is adorable, and is giving us great joy. the kids are doing well in school.....and we are getting ready for a wonderful October, with full fall color coming early here in N. Vermont.
Hi there 8.29Here is Remy..... our sweet new puppy........oops...figuring out why I can't post a photo.... Kathleen
helper needed-mentor for the pages8/26. I was thinking, it would be great if we had a mentor who could help those who find it a struggle to post ads, possibly with photos,... someone who has it down, the process. Does anyone want to help a little bit, via email.... and have email conversations coaching those who are new to placing ads? Let me know... kbruce@together.net.
Martha's 21st birthday!!!
And the other thrilling news here in Vermont is............. . It's going to rain for the next week straight. We are molding. Kathleen PS anyone got an ark?
Sat July 25. Corgi puppies.... knitting gone wrong..... etcJuly 26. well, I've just frogged a lace weight merino scarf where the pattern was messed up...way messed up. I am not able to count it when I can't see the pattern developing. It was like knitting with thread, and somehow, I could not keep track of the pattern, and it was messed-up without a definite viewable pattern..it needed blocking to see that, and so I frogged half of it, and kept the wool in a ball ...in case some day I want to continue. Maybe I am not a lace knitter.??? ARGH.
Sat July 19-thunder, humidity, and heatJuly 19, Sat. Well, we've just returned from a week on Lake Caspian. It was marvelous ....Jamie and I spent the week alone, on a beautiful lake, with no one around except for us, and the Scrabble board. Now we are back, and our daughter Emily is here, harvesting our bumper crop of raspberries to make jelly. She is just beginning medical school in the Bronx (Albert Einstein) and is in the midst of a histology class, her first there. Going well, thankfully.
July 11-Jamie's 52 birthdayJuly 11, 2008. Thank you all for reading, and keeping up with me. Summer is rolling along at a slightly slower pace than normal, though it can be really busy at times... especially on days where I work at the hospital as a staff nurse on postpartum. that has been VERY busy lately. Too crazy for me some days...but I like the work. How are you all doing on the Tour de Fleece? Anyone make any cool goals of working with yarn or fleece?
O so thankful to my community of knitters and spinners....July 2. Hi all. Just returned from Moving Emily into her first real apartment in the Bronx, at Albert Einstein Medical school, where she will live for 8 years getting her MD PhD. We painted, and scraped, and polished, and nailed things up, and made it PRETTY, and like home, painting it in the colors of her room at home, to help her feel like she is indeed in her own home. The movers showed up at 7 pm, YIPES, and we are all exhausted, but there is food in her fridge, and clothes in her closet (clean), and her bathtub is clean, and her bed is made with fresh sheets. Life is good.
June 5 wool hats for babiesJune 5. In my work as a lactation consultant, I am always going into mothers' homes and I always like to bring a little something for them when I go. I am looking to a source of handmade newborn hats. If anyone feels that they would like to make some hats, at a negotiated price with me, I would provide the wool, and the pattern, if you like, and you can provide me with the hats. I don't have time to knit that many baby hats, though I wish I did.... I am knitting for my girls now, and this is more of a business proposition.....
